About Me

Corey farms at Pinnaroo, the “hub” of the South
Australian Mallee farming district. A rich and diverse district, it grows
premium milling wheats for the world, and 60 per cent of this Countries fresh
wash potatoes.

Born and raised in Pinnaroo he was also educated at Pinnaroo Area
School before beginning work on the family property. In 1987 he left the farm,
to see the world! Travelling 80kms north to Loxton he spent 9 months fruit
picking before gaining employment at Beaurepaires. After 18 months at
Beaurepaires Corey headed home.

In 1994 he married, and two children were born, one in 1997,
and another in 1999.

In 2007 and 2008 Corey was elected to the South Australian Farmers
Federation’s Grains Council. Also in 2007┬áhe began a Master of Agribusiness
degree with the University of Melbourne, completing it in 2009. Also in 2009
Corey became a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD),
having completed 2 years on his local Council and a Company Directors course.

Today Corey owns Blacksell Farms, purchasing the business from his
parents in July 2008. He is also the Principal of Blacksell Agribusiness
Solutions, and soon to be a director of Blacksell Grain Pty Ltd

Corey is passionate, and positive, about the future of farming,
and the story that it has to tell. It is for these reasons he has developed his
own blog, to share it with the world.
